About Volkswagen Eos

Getting its name from the Greek goddess of the dawn named Eos, Volkswagen Eos was built by a famous German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen, shorten to VW, between 2006 and 2015 as a sports compact car. Originally introduced to take the place of the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet, Eos was Volkswagen's first production coupe since the Volkswagen Corrado, which ended production in July 1995. Competing against the Audi A5 and BMW 428, Eos was eventually discontinued in May 2015 though some models were still available in the United States as 2016 models.
Volkswagen Eos made its debut at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show as a Concept C concept car and was officially introduced at the 2006 Los Angeles Auto Show as North American production version. It was offered in only one body style, a 2-door coupe convertible but came in three trim levels: Komfort, Sport and Executive. Featured a retractable hardtop design, which combines the open-air experience of a traditional ragtop with the security and all-reason comfort of a coupe's fixed roof, Eos was also called as CSC (coupe-sunroof-convertible). Equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, a sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette (vinyl) upholstery, a power driver seat, heated front seats, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, an eight-speaker sound system with an iPod interface and a CD changer, a navigation system and VW's Car-Net telematics service, Eos was powered by a 2.0 L turbocharged I4 rated at 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque and this engine sent power through a 6-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) to front wheels.

Volkswagen Eos Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Offering a long list of niceties, a hardtop design and a high-quality interior, Volkswagen Eos has strong appealing for car enthusiasts. But considering that some auto parts on your Eos could not last forever and once they start to fail, these common problems will appear on it:
First, excessive oil consumption is the worst reported problem with the Volkswagen Eos according to the information from car repair statistics site CarComplaints.com. This is obviously an engine issue if you know something about working principle of automobiles. And this issue is serious enough to destroy the vehicle if you do not solve it as early as possible based on these typical symptoms of it provided by experienced Eos drivers. First of all, the engine will give out some noises such as whining, squealing or rattling to attract your attention; if left unattended, you will notice a plummet in engine performance such as engine running roughly, misfiring, stalling and even suffering from starting issues; before the vehicle breaks down completely, you will find the vehicle hesitate in accelerating and has poor gas mileage. If the Check Engine Light is triggered, you are supposed to inspect if the Eos spark plug, fuel pump, air filter, oil filter, fuel tank and engine mount.
Second, some Volkswagen Eos drivers also complained that they cannot shift into gear when the vehicle reaches at about 30,000 miles. This is actually a transmission issue that many Eos drivers have no idea about it. The worst consequence of this problem is that it could lead to drivability issue and make your vehicle impotent. Thus, you should keep alert when there are clunking or grinding noises coming from underneath the vehicle, when the indicator does not match the gear, when the transmission is slipping and surging and when the vehicle starts in another gear or refuses to go into any gear. All these could be attributed to the Eos transmission assembly, automatic transmission filter, automatic transmission shifter, clutch fork and shift cable.
A safe and comfortable ride needs every part on your Volkswagen Eos function properly to sustain. But some parts such as Eos seat belt, windshield wiper, wiper blade, fog light, headlight, antenna, and cabin air filter are bound to be more vulnerable since they are exposed to harsh working conditions all the time, routine maintenance on them is essential for them.
