About Volkswagen Eurovan

Also known as the fourth-generation Volkswagen Transporter (T4) 's North American version, Volkswagen Eurovan was built by a famous German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen, shorten to VW, between 1990 and 2003 as a light commercial vehicle. Originally introduced to replace the third-generation Transporter in North American market, which is also called the Vanagon, Eurovan was not available in United States until 1993. But still after being manufactured for about thirteen years old, Eurovan was replaced by the Volkswagen Routan in U.S. and Canada.
Volkswagen Eurovan made its debut in North American market in 1992 as a 1993 model and was offered in several body styles but it was smaller than a standard American delivery van and larger than an American or Japanese passenger minivan. Eurovan came in several trim levels: CL, GL, GLC, and MV as well as MV Weekender and Camper versions. Available in both short wheelbase and long wheelbase, Volkswagen Eurovan was equipped with pop-top roof, second overhead bed, bug screens for side windows and rear hatch, full set of curtains, auxiliary battery, fluorescent interior lights and under seat thermoelectric cooler and so on. During its lifetime, Volkswagen Eurovan was powered by 2.4 L inline 5-cylinder diesel engine rated at 74 hp and 118 lb-ft of torque and this engine sent power through 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmissions to the front wheels or four wheels.

Therefore, these typical symptoms of transmission issue could be helpful for you. First of all, you should notice if there are clunking or grinding noises from underneath the vehicle when driving, especially when acceleration; if there are leaking transmission fluids on the ground; if the transmission slips or surges; if the indicator does not match the gear, and vehicle starts in another gear or refuses to go into any gear. Once all answers are positive, you should inspect the Eurovan transmission assembly, automatic transmission filter, automatic transmission shifter, clutch fork and shift cable immediately.
Second, old model like Volkswagen Eurovan, engine problem is an unavoidable issue. As the soul of a vehicle, any wrong appears on it could lead to a breakdown in the whole vehicle. The most useful advice is to diagnose and solve it as soon as possible based on these recognizable and simple symptoms provided by experienced Eurovan owners. Firstly, the engine will send out some strange sounds such as whining, squealing and rattling; then, the engine runs roughly, misfires, stalls and even suffers from starting issues. Finally, there will be a dramatical decrease in power while acceleration and fuel economy, the Check Engine Light may be activated as well. Under such circumstance, you are supposed to inspect if the Eurovan spark plug, air filter, oil filter, engine mount, oxygen sensor, timing belt tensioner, drive belt and fuel pump.

But some auto parts are just bound to be vulnerable due to fragile materials and harsh working conditions.
